A 56/52 (SPENCER) RIMFIRE BALLARD FALLING BLOCK CARBINE CIRCA 1863, no visible serial number, with 22" rifled barrel, pinched pattern front-sight, flip leaf battle-sights, two piece iron mounts walnut stock, half forend with one spring retained barrel band. The action features an under-lever operated falling block with centre hammer. It is believed that only 1800 Ballard carbines were produced in 56/52 Spencer calibre the bulk of production being in .44 (Henry). The carbine refinished overall with deep blue finish to barrel and case colours to action, loss of all markings and some sharpness.
